National Mobile Phone Enforcement Campaign

Alert message sent 17/04/2019 19:18:00

Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

The NPCC national mobile phone enforcement campaign is running in Nottinghamshire between Monday 15 April to Sunday 28 April 2019.

Using your mobile while driving could cost you £200 and six points on your licence, a simple message however during 2018 a total of 450 drivers were dealt with for driving whilst using their mobile phones on Nottinghamshire’s roads.

T/Ps Phil Broughton, Roads Policing Unit, said: “There are still a minority of motorists using Nottinghamshire’s roads who continue to use their phone while driving. It goes without saying that anyone driving a vehicle should give their full attention to the road, not just for their own safety but for others’ too.

"By using a handheld device at the wheel, you are taking your attention away from the road, which can severely affect your judgment, your reaction times and your awareness of what’s going on around you.”
