Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

There have been a number of reports regarding door to door sellers around the Southwell area over the last few days. Out of the 3 reports we received 2 of the males were stopped and questioned by Police. One was from a legitimate company and the other could not produce any documentation. He just stated he was trying to make a living selling cheap produce.
The male from last night spoken to on Lowes Wong (22/12) was checked on our systems and was found to be a prolific offender from the Nottingham area. He may well be trying to turn his life around, but knocking on doors at night is not the way forward.
PLEASE do not accept goods off the doorstep and if possible always check to see who is knocking on your door, especially if it is unexpected or dark outside.
If you do answer, be polite, say no thanks and close the door, do not engage in conversation with them.
