Avoid falling for a fishy tale

Information sent on behalf of Trading Standards

Nottinghamshire residents who have been misled by a scam involving traders selling fish are being encouraged to report their experience to the County Council Trading Standards team.

The team has received more reports from local buyers who have been led to believe they are buying a couple of portions of premium cod or haddock and are charged much more for what is likely to be frozen cheap white fish.

Residents are also encouraged to make vulnerable friends and relatives aware of the scam and not buy from anyone on their doorstep.

Although the reports are low, the Council believe this problem is more widespread and need more information on the problem to tackle it. If you have any recent information on this issue, or have been misled yourself please report it to the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 04 05 06.
