Alert message sent 27/10/2017 08:11:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch in Nottinghamshire

Vigilance Required as Elderly Targeted

There have been several attempted and successful distractions in the Rurals areas (Selston, Underwood, Jacksdale) and Kirkby in Ashfield area of Nottinghamshire in the past few days.

The offender is described as a white male, tall, in his late twenties with stubble and an unusual hair cut a little like a dark Mohican style  and speaks with a British accent.

This male drives around in a white Ford Transit van targeting elderly people by turning up saying he has fixed either their roof or guttering.   This male then makes demands of payment for works not carried out.

It is believed he is targeting addresses that have the white grab rails at the sides of the doors and bungalows.

Nottinghamshire Police are investigating these incidents and progressing the cases however they ask that the community are extra vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police either by 101 or 999 if a crime is being committed.

Please share and help us reach out to our elderly members of the community.

If anyone has any information that may assist the police with these crimes please call 101 or phone CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 000237-18102017.
